Yakiniku stalls have been popping up one after another: Yakiniku Like, Yakiniku Go and Yakiniku Warrior, just to name a few. The latest to join the fray is Whack-Yu Yakiniku, which is located within a coffee shop in Tampines West.

Here’s what sets Whack-Yu Yakiniku apart from the rest: It uses a lava stone hot grill made from Mount Etna in Sicilia, Italy as its barbecue stove, and it serves affordable beef platters, featuring top-quality MS7 grade wagyu beef cubes. Yum!

Unlike typical yakiniku restaurants that use charcoal or hotplate stoves, Whack-Yu Yakiniku takes its grilling experience up to the next level with its lava stone hot grill.

The stone accumulates and releases heat in a constant manner, resulting in evenly cooked wagyu beef that melts in your mouth.

Whack-Yu Yakiniku’s platters are priced pretty affordably. The cheapest platter, the Whack-Yu 1414 (S$16.90), comes with chashu pork, pork belly, teriyaki chicken and assorted vegetables.

Meanwhile, its most expensive platter is the Whack-Yu 4896 (S$59.90), as it comes with MS7 grade wagyu beef cubes, beef tongue, striploin, tiger prawns, pork belly, chashu pork, teriyaki chicken, squid and more. Still pretty affordable if you ask me, considering the platter offers a total of 10 different items.

Thinking of getting the MS7 grade Wagyu Beef Cubes separately? Whack-Yu Yakiniku offers it on its a la carte menu at an affordable S$15.90 per 100 grams. You can also try its Wagyu Karubi (S$11.90/100g) or Striploin (S$7.90/100g).

To top it off, dip your grilled meat in Truffle Onsen Egg (S$2.50), and finish your meal with Japanese Premium Ice Cream (S$3), which is imported from Japan and comes in seasonal flavours such as peach sorbet and more.

Unfortunately, Whack-Yu Yakiniku will be moving to a bigger coffee shop at Sin Ming Lane in March, so you have till the end of February to visit it at Tampines West.

Here’s where it gets good (if it hasn’t already): Flash this article to the staff at Whack-Yu Yakiniku for a free plate of Truffle Edamame with every order!
