Previously, the team of The Social Outcast had faced extreme defamatory remarks from an employee of Ishiro. From spamming 1-star Oddle Eats reviews containing racist remarks to prank orders on GrabFood, it was obviously clear Ishiro wanted to cause trouble. So, why did The Social Outcast lose the lawsuit?
This is a continuation of our previous article, in which various food businesses were harassed by Ishiro. People related to Ishiro have been revealed to have left 1-star Google reviews to businesses like Mentai-Ya and The Burning Oak.

Having read through the judgement that was published on 28 Feb 2023, the evidence against the Ishiro employee was rather solid. With many screenshots containing evidence of the derogatory remarks as well as confessions from the man himself, I am sure many of us had the impression that The Social Outcast would win.
To my great disbelief, not only did The Social Outcast’s claims get rebuked, they also got charged with a hefty S$15,000. This was because rather than charging the employee of Ishiro himself, they claimed that Ishiro was the perpetrator of the whole fiasco.

During the trial, the evidence pointed towards the employee’s own actions rather than the boss behind Ishiro. Thus, the court believed that such a claim that the participation of Ishiro’s boss was not proven.
How did The Social Outcast get charged instead? Well, Ishiro countered that The Social Outcast had released degrading content on them, claiming defamation. This was proven through The Social Outcast’s letter of demand to multiple third parties, that included statements considered to be belittling Ishiro.

Although there is no doubt that The Social Outcast was defamed, it seems that they won’t get their justice. Due to the letter of demand sent out, they instead lost with a heavy price.
According to the published judgement, The Social Outcast has to pay Ishiro S$15,000 in damages. With reference to their Instagram post, Ishiro also stated that they were awarded S$45,000 in costs.
Despite the lawsuit’s outcome, we hope the involved parties will be able to settle the damages amicably. What about you — how did you think the lawsuit would’ve turned out?
