SG60 may be characterised by fireworks and the NDP parade, but Takashimaya Shopping Centre is here to remind us about the food that forms part of our Singaporean identity. With the SG60 Asian Favourites Fair, the nostalgic flavours we’ve come to love are placed in the spotlight!
Located at Basement 2 of the department store, the SG60 Asian Favourites Fair spans Food Stops 1 to 3. This delightful array of Singaporean flavours will be available from now till 11 Aug.
Soft pandan chiffon cakes, cream-filled Clairssants and crunchy tempeh chips? My wallet is quaking, but I can’t stop myself!
Nothing sparks memories like smoky satay slathered in a thick layer of peanut sauce. Traditional Satay’s stall serves exactly what you think it does. The Satay Set (S$9 for 10 pcs) has chicken, pork and mixed variations for you to choose from.
Before you move on to the next food stop, remember to dabao a box of Tanglin Curry Puff’s prime selections. There are 4 flavours you can try: Chicken, Sardine, Otah and Yam, at S$2.70 each. Of course, a Box of 6 priced at S$14.90 (U.P. S$16.20) makes the decision much easier!
Shenton Bakery is known for their traditional pastries and cakes, but they’ve introduced a modern touch as new trends arise. Creamy egg mayo is packed into soft bread, an homage to the popular Japanese egg mayo sandwiches. At S$3.80 to S$4.80 each, or S$10 for 3, you get buns generously filled with a myriad of ingredients.
Don’t worry, no one’s forgetting about dessert! BANANA takes care of that with their Selected Fritters (S$7.50 to S$9.50 for 5 to 8 pcs). These golden brown parcels crackle as loud as their fully capitalised name when you bite down.
If I wrote about all the different stalls you’ll be seeing at the SG60 Asian Favourites Fair, I’ll be stuck in the office overnight. Just take a trip down to Takashimaya soon and be tempted by these local delights right then and there!
