Love mala? You might wanna sit down for this. Another one bites the dust as mala bowl stall All Things Mala will roll down its shutters come 30 Aug. This comes a short 3 months after the joint shifted from Bukit Merah to the Hawkerlab food court in the swanky Geneo Mall.

“One last chance to get your spice fix!” wrote All Things Mala in an 8 Aug Instagram post, wherein it announced its impending closure. The team also expressed heartfelt thanks to their regulars, employees and content creators for the hard work and for “shining a light on [their] little stall”.

The establishment’s final hurrah is just months shy of a year since it opened on 1 Dec 2024 at Silat Avenue. Short as it was, its run was a mighty fulfilling one that won the hearts of many mala lovers — several of whom discovered it late, but were impressed all the same.

The draw? All Things Mala ditches the typical kiap-your-own-ingredients affair and presents a curated line-up of prefixed mala bowls, loaded with a myriad of goodies perfect for a solo feast. Even better, owner Kuan Loong and his team thoughtfully go easy on the oil, letting the flavours and aroma shine through their house-made mala paste.

all things mala - overview

You’ll find 4 mala bowls on offer, namely: Signature Mala Chicken Bowl (S$8.90)Fiery Beef King Bowl (S$9.90)Ocean’s Heat Mala Bowl (S$10.90) and Mala Garden Bowl (S$7.90). Each features a variety of fixings, including generous portions of meat, springy instant noodles, plenty of greens and a shower of what Kuan Loong calls “yusheng crispies” that add a fun crunch to the dish.

Beyond these, the stall has rice options like Mala Chicken Don (S$9.90) and Prawn & Fish Mala Fried Rice (S$8.90), as well as the share-worthy Mala Platter (S$32.90) for something a little more DIY. Their sides are worth a shout too — the Crispy Mochi Youtiao with Condensed Milk (S$3.50), for one, is a unique treat that’ll zhng up your meal.

We wish Kuan Loong and his team all the best as this chapter of theirs draws to a close. In the meantime, it’s not too late to visit All Things Mala for a final fiery fix as they wind down over the next week. It’s not goodbye yet, so we’ll see you there!
