Bakery 1946, located in the heart of Suntec City, brings consumers back to a time when baking was an art form, with each pastry telling a narrative. This lovely bakery, inspired by the rich history of its foundation year, delivers a delectable blend of traditional Singaporean flavours and new inventions.

Being the first-ever outlet of Bakery 1946 in Singapore since its inception in Korea, the bakery has had several attempts to test the Singapore market with its various collabs and pop-ups.

One such collaboration was with Keong Saik Bakery where they made interesting and uniquely Singaporean flavours like Bandung Cheese Cruffin and First Love which is a giant lava croissant filled with Korean strawberry jam.

This also includes their Cactus Tart (S$9.30) which looks extremely real and pieces together the masteries of both Keong Saik’s pastry making and Bakery 1946’s bread making. It is a Nama matcha chocolate with matcha sponge filled with matcha mousse, matcha cremeux & chocolate crumbs. Yes, lots of matcha!

The bakery brand is well renowned for its hyperrealistic fruit and vegetable-shaped bread, such as the viral K-Apple (S$6.20) and Garlic Manja (S$4) which is shaped like a clove of garlic. The former is loaded with fresh cream and apple jam, while the latter is filled with sweet white bean paste.

They also have bread that is shaped in the shape of purple sweet potatoes, carrots, corn, pumpkin, chestnuts, and many other hyper-realistic fruits and vegetables.

While prices have yet to be firmed up, do not expect this lovely masterpiece of bread to be just a couple of dollars. The real question is: will you pay for it?
