Chicken feet. The name alone invokes either a pleasant hum or a disgusted groan. I still recall my father vehemently swearing them off as he grew up in a kampung and observed chickens stepping on anything and everything.
It’s often served as a side dish to accompany meals like wanton mee or chicken rice. However, I think there are still several stalls that have chicken feet so good that it’s worth shouting out. With that, here are 10 must-try places with chicken feet that’ll knock your socks off!
1. Pin Xiang Wanton Mee

Pin Xiang Wanton Mee in Toa Payoh Palm Spring Market is one of the most famous hawker stalls in the Toa Payoh area, and for a very good reason. For 30 years, the humble auntie and uncle behind the stall have been waking up at 3am to prepare for service.
You can easily spot where they are in the hawker centre by the vibrant voice of the auntie greeting her customers.

Their beautiful Chicken Feet come at S$2 for 2, although the auntie is usually generous enough to gift you a 3rd foot. It’s so soft and tender that the foot slips right off the plantar cleanly, leaving no residue at all. The chicken foot is infused with a garlic flavour and hints of ginger from the broth it was braised in for 7 hours.
When you decide to visit, just make sure to pop by before or during lunchtime. The stall closes at 1pm and sees long queues regularly.

2. Ji Xian Seafood & HK Dim Sum Express

While Ji Xian Seafood & HK Dim Sum Express is well known for its massive tanks full of fish and crustaceans, some often forget about the second half of their name. Located within Kallang Wave Mall, the restaurant serves a variety of Cantonese-style dim sum to accompany their seafood spread.

Their Chicken Claw with Black Bean Sauce (S$4.20) is an absolute treat. It’s fried and stewed till the softness is just right, and has quite a tangy flavour from the sauce. Ji Xian Seafood & HK Dim Sum Express is one of the best places to find authentic Cantonese dim sum in general, and their chicken feet really prove it.

3. Lu Ge Wanton Noodle

Lu Ge Wanton Noodle in Chong Boon Market & Food Centre is a stall that opened in Sep 2022. The owners adapted and adjusted a recipe they picked up from a former employee of their old business. The stall is quite well-known for its generous portions of toppings.

Their chicken feet come in several dishes. The Signature Wanton Noodles (S$4.50/6) contains 1 chicken foot, and you can add 2 pieces to any dish for an additional S$2. However, I really recommend getting the Chicken Feet (S$3 for 4pcs, S$4.50 for 6pcs) by itself.

Their Hor Fun with Chicken Feet (S$4.50/6) comes with 2 chicken feet, which definitely puts the fun in hor fun.

4. Ji Ji Noodle House

We have quite a few historical hawkers on this list, with Ji Ji Noodle House in Hong Lim Market and Food Centre being one of them. It’s run by 3rd-generation hawkers, and has earned itself spot on the Michelin Guide for Singapore. In fact, this stall is as old as Singapore itself, first opening as a pushcart in 1965.

Their Braised Chicken Feet (S$4) is a must-try dish. It combines a savoury braised flavour with a slight smoky charred taste. In fact, it’s so good that many customers ask for the chicken feet to be packed for takeaway! If you need some noodles to pair with your chicken feet, then you can always grab their Braised Chicken Feet Noodles (S$4.50).

5. PangPang 胖哥俩肉蟹煲

If you enjoy a twist of hotpot with your chicken feet, then PangPang just might be the place for you. Located in Guoco Midtown, PangPang serves a variety of popular Chinese dishes in pots, with their Crab Pot being quite renowned. However, I think their twist on chicken feet is worth a try, too!

You can get their Chicken Feet Pot (S$48) or add some chicken feet to other pots you order for S$8.80. It’s so soft and gelatinous that you can chew right through the bone. Bring your friends who are still sceptical about chicken feet here, as it’s known to convert haters to lovers.

6. Feng Xin Dim Sum

The story behind Feng Xin Dim Sum is honestly worth its own article. It’s located in Promenade Market @ 84, a few metres away from Neptune Hong Kong Dim Sum. Why are there two dim sum places in one hawker centre? Allegedly, the owner of Feng Xin Dim Sum used to work for Neptune Hong Kong Dim Sum. How scandalous!

Their Chicken Feet (S$4.50) is made with lots of love, well-braised and not too salty. Some claim it’s a very old-school style of chicken feet, which may be the case given the stall’s rumoured history.
If you’re a fan of Neptune Hong Kong Dim Sum, maybe head down and give this place a try for some comparing and contrasting.

7. Yishun 925 Chicken Rice

Yishun, my beloved land of the mad. Who knew that you would be hiding one of the most unique takes on chicken feet in Singapore? Yishun 925 Chicken Rice is heralded as having the best chicken rice in the North, and what pairs better with chicken rice than chicken feet?

This is their Crystal Chicken Feet (S$4/6), a special deboned variant of chicken feet. It has a similar salty soy sauce taste to the gelatinous skin of steamed chicken, and is an excellent way of introducing chicken feet to those who dislike biting through the odd texture of bones.

8. Five Star HK Handmade Dim Sum

The most ulu place on our list is definitely Five Star HK Handmade Dim Sum. Located within the Shun Li Industrial Complex, which is a short walk from Aljunied MRT. You’d be hard-pressed to find a bus serving this route, so be prepared to burn some calories.
Once you reach the industrial complex, take a lift up to the 7th floor and peek around the corner to find this dim sum eatery.

This dark-hued Black Pepper Chicken Feet (S$4.50) combines the beloved three-pronged claw with hearty black pepper sauce. It’s a very unique take on chicken feet, but some customers claim that the black pepper flavour can be a bit overwhelming at times.

9. Mei Jing Sandakan Fried Pork Noodle

Mei Jing Sandakan Fried Pork Noodle is owned by a humble man named Max, who traces his culinary roots back to 1971 when his grandfather opened an eatery in Sandakan, Sabah. His stall used to be in Whampoa Makan Place, but has since shifted to Hong Lim Market & Food Centre.

Max sells chicken feet in his Danggui Mushroom Chicken Feet Noodle (S$3.80). You receive a giant pair of chicken feet at an affordable price; it’s no wonder the stall is so popular! The chicken feet are braised to utter perfection, the collagen-rich skin slipping off the bone like butter.

10. Ming Kee Chicken Rice

To end the list off, we have Ming Kee Chicken Rice in Kim San Leng Food Centre Bishan. This stall holds a bit of a special place in my heart, as it’s a mere stone’s throw away from the Singapore Scouts Association Headquarters, which I frequented during my schooling days.
After finishing whatever business I had in the headquarters, I’d head down and end my day off with a comforting plate of their chicken rice, and more importantly — their crystal chicken feet.

Their Crystal Chicken Feet (S$4/5) sell out early almost every day. It’s especially soft and slippery, and the chefs do an excellent job at thoroughly deboning every claw. My favourite way to eat them is to sinfully dip them into their strong dark soy sauce.
