Popular Indonesian nasi padang stall at Serangoon Avenue 2, Dju Dju Nasi Padang, is set to close down permanently on 28 Feb 2023 as the owner intends to retire. The nasi padang stall is known for the long queues as well as the accolades its dishes have received.

The news was announced in a post by Dju Dju Nasi Padang which states that the owner is retiring after 38 years of business to pursue her passion for travelling. They are seeking parties who are looking to take over the business.

It also states that their mee siam and mee rebus dishes will be available to order for special functions.

The stall was started by Indonesian native, Djudjurjati who learnt how to cook and prepare all her nasi padang dishes from her Peranakan mother and Indonesian relatives over 30 years ago.

She also has been cooking for her family and friends who approved of her food which led to her husband encouraging her to set up a food stall selling the same dishes near their home.

Despite being a nasi padang stall, its popular dishes such as Mee Siam (S$4) and Nasi Ayam Penyet (S$5.50) have been featured in Straits Times and The New Paper. Their Mee Rebus (S$4) are also known to be thick and nutty.

As for your nasi padang options, you have over 30 dishes to choose from, however, the firm favourites are Ayam Masak Merah (S$4.50)Chicken Curry (S$3.50) and Mutton Rendang (S$4.50). If you’re feeling extra lavish, you can opt for their Claypot Assam Fish Head (S$23/S$25) cooked with homemade gravy.

If you’re in the neighbourhood, definitely make this your spot for lunch before Aunty Dju Dju jets off into the sunset! I know I will.
