If you’re a Johorean or someone who keeps up with the latest Malaysian food trends on social media, you’ve probably heard of Nasi Lemak Hantu. Sadly, if you’re planning a visit to this spooky hotspot, you’ll have to wait a bit longer — they’re temporarily closed for renovations.
Tucked away in Taman Pelangi, Nasi Lemak Hantu stands out with its quirky vibe and neon green facade. You can’t miss it, thanks to its fun mascot — a bright green ghost that looks like it stepped right out of an old-school Ghostbusters movie, turning heads and grabbing attention from everyone who passes by.
On the menu, you’ll find familiar favourites like Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng and Nasi Lemak Ayam Rendang, but the true star is their Nasi Lemak Ayam Cili Api. And here’s the kicker: all 3 dishes come at an easy RM9.80!
The name “Hantu” doesn’t just refer to their ghostly mascot — it’s also a cheeky nod to the fiery spice level, perfect for those who like their food with a little bit of heat. And no, KL peeps, this is not your beloved Nasi Lemak Burung Hantu located in TTDI.
Like many others eager to try this spot, I recently visited Nasi Lemak Hantu’s page to check it out. What caught my attention, though, were some disgruntled Google reviews from people who had made the trip, only to find the place closed.
One review even claimed the MPJP itself had raided the restaurant, which seemed like quite a stretch to me. So, I decided to dig deeper. After reaching out to the owner, I confirmed that Nasi Lemak Hantu is closed for renovations until mid-November.
While it’s a bummer that this cool nasi lemak joint with such concept won’t be open in October, of all months, rest assured they’ll be back and better than ever! Keep an eye on their socials to not miss any updates.
