Brought to you by the same owners behind Pi Food, we welcome Ganko Sushi! Direct from Japan, Ganko Sushi started out as a small shop that operated in Juso, Osaka in 1963. 58 years and 99 outlets across Japan and one in Hong Kong later, they are finally proud to mark its first Southeast Asian outlet on our shores at 9 Penang Road (formally known as Park Mall).

If you miss the land of the rising sun, expect to be transported right back with its exceptional Japanese-inspired decor. The interior is painted with a fusion of navy blue, charcoal grey and of course paired with plenty of wood sits 40 people with 13 seats at the countertop catered to omakase services.

Ganko Sushi Singapore will be helmed by Chef Kuwahara Toshiyuki, who has been a part of the Ganko family for over 20 years. He started out his apprenticeship with the chain as a 22-year-old trainee and since climbed his way to the top to a top-class itamae. He will also be trained under the consultant chef before permanently taking over the outlet in Singapore.

As with every trip to a Japanese restaurant, expect a colourful range of fresh seafood. But what sets Ganko Sushi apart from the rest is their seafood are air-flown daily from Osaka Central market along with other imported ingredients like Chidori Murayama Zosu and Marunaka Shoyu.

Let’s move over to their range of food available on the menu with the cheapest single piece of Salmon Sushi starting at a mere S$3. Other food options include Seared Sushi Platter 5 Types (S$32), Sushi Platter 8 Types (S$40) and an Assorted Tuna Sashimi (S$39) platter with akamichutoro and otoro. Also available are set lunches priced at S$38 that comes with chawanmushi, soup and a small side dish. For a special time only, the omakase service will only be available during dinner (5.30pm – 10pm) at S$150 for 12 courses.
