Fusion restaurants are truly something special, since their dishes are totally out-of-the-ordinary. So, there is bound to be excitement for newly opened Tambi along Amoy Street, which combines a fresh fusion of South Indian and Korean cuisine. Did I mention that both founding chefs have Michelin stars up their sleeves?
Integrating elements of 2 different cuisines within each dish is no simple feat, especially when they are as vastly different as Korean and South Indian. However, Chef Sun Kim and Chef Mano Thevar have made it happen, combining the best of both culinary worlds into their brainchild Tambi.

There are high expectations for Tambi, considering how both Chefs have Michelin titles under their belts. Chef Sun Kim founded Meta, which earned 1 Michelin star as well as the 17th spot on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants. Chef Mano Thevar started Thevar, which received 2 Michelin stars and was at 56th place on the same list.

Tambi’s menu includes intriguing items like Beef Tartar Appalam (S$28) which adds unique Indian flair to the Korean classic Yukhoe. Containing hand-cut beef seasoned with vibrant flavours like gochujang, this appetiser became a fan favourite very quickly.

Their Tambi’s Maggie Goreng (S$18) adds a Korean twist to the Indian classic, with the “maggie” actually being Korean potato noodles. Chewy and with a light texture, these coated noodles are sure to hold an addictive kick!
This casual eatery is already reserved for the rest of Jul 2023, astoundingly quick considering the recent opening on 30 Jun 2023. They are already running out of slots for Aug, so best make reservations to try out Tambi’s unique fare for yourself!
