I’m not the first to say it, and definitely won’t be the last — 2025 has been an awful year for hawkers. We’ve had to say goodbye to many beloved stalls, with heartbreaking stories ranging from family businesses closing due to rising costs or stalls closing because nobody wants to inherit them.

I feel compelled to chronicle every hawker’s name, so they’ll never be forgotten. With that, here’s A round-up of hawker stalls that closed permanently in 2025.

January

Curly King – This instant noodle hawker franchise had 4 outlets around Singapore, all of which abruptly shut down with zero indication on their social media channels.

Campur Campur Boleh? – The nasi padang stall was only open for 3 months before closing permanently at the end of Jan 2025.

Serangoon BBQ & Curry – A family-run curry fish head and nasi padang business. While the hawker stall has closed, they still have eatery concepts open in Junction 8 and Raffles Specialist Centre.

Wu Xiang Shrimp Cake – The elderly couple behind the stall made headlines after being spotted job-hunting at a job fair. Their stall closed due to surging rent and utility costs that went over S$5,000.

Febuary

Twelve Hainanese Chicken Rice – This chicken rice stall in Kukoh 21 Food Centre officially closed on 28 Feb 2025 due to a rental dispute with the landlord.

March

Lim Bo Rojak – A unique Penang-style rojak stall that traces its origins back to the 1980s as a roadside stall in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. They closed on 31 Mar 2025.

Huang Kee HK-Style Wanton Noodles – Known for their generous portions and friendly service staff, no clear reason was given as to why the hawker closed.

April

Mentai-Ya – At its peak, Mentai-Ya had 9 outlets. The owner was criticised and bullied over social media for being vocal about the difficulties of managing a hawker stall in Singapore.

Lee Mama Yam Cake – This old-school wah kueh stall used to have everything on its menu priced below S$3. They closed for good on 30 Apr 2025 due to soaring rent.

May

New Scissor-Cut Curry Rice – Having been open for 30 years, this curry rice stall closed its doors on 13 May 2025 due to a combination of poor business and high rental.

Teck Hin Fishball Noodle – A popular fishball noodle stall that has relocated several times. They officially shut down for good on 15 May 2025 due to a decline in the owner’s health.

Monkey Thai Seafood – An authentic Thai seafood hawker opened by a Thai couple in 2010. They closed on 19 May 2025, and the couple returned to Thailand.

June

Bedok 539 Kway Chap – Known for their clean kway chap with generous portions, they closed on 1 Jun 2025 due to the owner’s declining health and high rental.

July

Dong Fang Hong Sotong Ball Seafood Soup – A 45-year-old soup stall formerly run by 3 sisters, with the youngest and eldest retiring early due to declining health. The middle sister served her last bowl on 23 Jul 2025.

Hui Ming Fishball Mushroom Noodle – Having been in the same coffee shop for 40+ years, Hui Ming Fishball Mushroom Noodle finally closed in July 2025. The owner’s sons were unwilling to take over the business.

August

Very Lucky Turtle Soup – A stall founded in the 1960s, owned by a 2nd-generation hawker. It closed due to the owner’s health issues, despite his two sons’ offering to take over the business.

All Things Mala – Initially opened in Bukit Merah on 1 Dec 2024, they shifted to Hawkerlab in Geneo Mall before closing for good on 30 Aug 2025.

Lim’s Fried Oyster – It was run by an elderly couple in Berseh Food Centre, with the husband cooking orh luak since he was 9 years old. They closed on 30 Aug 2025, a month before the hawker centre temporarily closed for renovation works.

Ma Li Ya Virgin Chicken – Talks of the stall’s closure began as early as Jan 2025, when the owner announced her intention to retire at 75 years old and sell her recipe. While their exact closure date is unknown, it is understood that they officially closed in Aug 2025.

September

Home Treasure Salted Duck – They shifted from a coffee shop along Yishun Ring Road to Bukit Canberra Hawker Centre on 17 Dec 2022. The couple behind the stall closed it on 9 Sep 2025.

Sunrise Traditional Coffee & Toast – This popular traditional coffee and toast stall in Market Street Hawker Centre closed on 26 Sep 2025. You can still purchase their Coffee Powder (S$11.99 for 0.5kg) and Tea Dust (S$12.99 for 0.5kg) on Shopee.

October

Beo Crescent Curry Rice – This legendary curry rice stall had a closure scare back in 2022, where they dispelled the rumours. Unfortunately, they closed for real on 1 Oct 2025, after failing to negotiate a deal with the owners of the coffee shop they reside in.

Xcelyn – They initially opened as a restaurant concept in 2020, but downscaled to a hawker stall in Addiction Bistro coffee shop. They closed on 26 Oct 2025, with the owner hoping to explore a home-based business in the future.

Seoul Shiok – At their peak, Seoul Shiok had 5 branches around Singapore. The pandemic forced them to shut down, and they moved to a coffee shop in Ang Mo Kio. Sadly, they closed for good on 24 Oct 2025.

December

968 Popiah – This stall is known for its unique sushi popiah. They plan to close by the end of Dec 2025, the owner wishing to enjoy a fruitful retirement.
