Set on a 5,500 sq ft rooftop overlooking the KLGCC golf course, the new outlet offers a calmer alternative to the usual mall dining experience.

Inspired by traditional Korean Hanok architecture, the 100-seater space features warm wood tones, latticework, soft lantern lighting and an open charcoal grill at its centre. Private VIP rooms and outdoor seating are also available.

MODU’s signature samgyetang remains the star, with each bowl made using organic chicken and a 12-hour slow-simmered bone broth. Choices range from Hanbang and Spicy Herbal to Truffle, Black Garlic, Perilla Seed and Black Chicken Samgyetang.

Two flavours are exclusive to KLGCC: Scorched Rice Samgyetang, topped with crispy nurungji, and Curry Laksa Samgyetang, which combines the ginseng-infused broth with aromatic curry laksa spices, tau pok and bean sprouts.

MODU KLGCC - Truffle

We tried the Truffle Samgyetang (RM64), which had a thicker, richer broth infused with truffle and topped with more truffle for an earthy aroma. The chicken was tender, with rice tucked inside to soak up the broth.

MODU KLGCC - Black chicken

The Black Chicken Samgyetang (RM64) was lighter, with a subtly smoky broth and refreshing finish. Its chicken was leaner, with a soft, sweet chestnut inside adding a pleasant contrast.

MODU KLGCC - Charcoal grill

New to MODU is its charcoal-grilled chicken menu, with cuts grilled individually over charcoal. The Signature Grill Set (RM150) comes with 730g of assorted cuts, including thigh, tender, gizzard and soft bone.

Even non-gizzard fans may enjoy this one. It was tender, without the rubbery texture or strong poultry taste often associated with gizzard.

With its expanded samgyetang lineup and charcoal-grilled chicken, the newly-opened MODU KLGCC should be on your list. Add in the quieter rooftop setting and golf course views, and it makes for a pretty appealing spot to settle in for a leisurely Korean meal.
