BK Eating House has been on a roll this year, opening outlet after outlet. This time, it’s not the East that’s blessed with a new coffeeshop, but the Northeast, at Boon Keng. A subtle difference, but we’ll take it.

Having opened on 27 Apr, BK’s expansion into the Northeast comes a little over a month after their expansion in Bedok.
BK Eating House is not yet done, as they have opened another outlet over on Chai Chee Road, near Bedok once again. I suppose the East is truly living up to its reputation as a foodie paradise.

Moving from the West to the North-East, Skillet is one of the stalls at this new outlet. Apart from your usual Chicken Chop (S$6), what’s bound to catch your eye is their Smoked Duck Salad (S$5) and Smoked Duck Carbonara (S$6).

You can’t miss out on ban mian when talking about any coffeeshop in Singapore. Legacy Ban Mian, well known for their Mee Hoon Kueh Soup (S$5.50), is ideal for anyone craving authentic mee hoon kueh. They hand-tear each strand of noodle, varying in chewiness and thickness.

Other stalls include Chang Lai Chang Wang and Steven Fried Rice.
Mala lovers can get their mala fix from Chang Lai Chang Wang, with Mala Hotpot (S$2.18 per 100g). Otherwise, sharing dishes can be ordered as well, such as their Chong Qing Grilled Fish (S$26) and Boiled Sliced Meat (S$13).
Steven Fried Rice offers unique variations of this dish, with their XL Chicken Cutlet Fried Rice (S$8.50) and their Mala Egg Fried Rice (S$5).

Beauty Nutritious Soup is great for diners who don’t want a heavy meal. Their Traditional Healthy Hakka Lei Cha (S$5.80) and American Ginseng Sliced Fish Soup (S$7.50) are definitely must-tries. Flavourborn Noodles offers affordable options, with their Pork Ball Noodle (S$4).
