When Nunsongyee closed down, I was devastated. After all, it was my all-time favourite a Korean bingsu cafe and never will I imagine a better eatery to take over the three-storey building across Bugis Junction. That, however, was before Smile Dessert took over and gave the building a magical transformation. Today, sitting along North Bridge Road is the new 24-hour (current opening hours: 11am – 3am, daily) dessert cafe decked beautifully in pink, serving up plates of sweet delights to curb our never-ending sugar cravings.

A haven for lovers of all things pink and pastel, Smile Dessert aims to transport their diners to a whimsical wonderland with its aesthetically pleasing yet cosy interior. Whilst the first floor might take on a bare-basic look with its alfresco dining area and counter area, it is the second floor that will have you fumbling for your phone to take that profile picture-worthy shot for Instagram.

Serving as a background to a charming gigantic ball pit filled with white and black balls is a soft grey wall filled with pink letters, a spot you can not only snap picturesque shots but also lounge around while enjoying your treat. Elsewhere, Smile Dessert’s third floor also spots an enchanting simple look with its grey and pink furniture as well as classy decorations.

Whilst Smile Dessert’s Mango Love Snow Ice (S$18.90) and Thai Style Snow Ice (S$16.90) will help beat the heat with its icy-cold mouthfeel and classic flavours, it is their souffle that catches my attention.

For a rich and creamy option, go for their Tiramisu Souffle (S$12.90) or Chocolate Dirty Souffle (S$12.90). Otherwise, for an exotic treat, their Black Swan Souffle (S$12.90) will delight with its fragrance and nutty flavour.
Smile Dessert’s menu also offers an array of beverages to complement your sweet treats. A match made in heaven alongside all the cream-based desserts is their Mixed Fruit Tea (S$6.90) and Peach Lemon Tea (S$6.90)—fresh, tangy selections that will keep you rejuvenated and going back for more.

Planning a visit to Smile Dessert already? Expect long waiting times, especially during the weekends as the cafe has been garnering a fair bit of attention since its opening. Other than that, do make sure your camera is fully charged for you to snap your day away!
