23 best brunch cafes in Singapore

Cafes in Singapore are a dime a dozen and that begs the question: What are the best cafes in SingaporeAt the same time, brunch has become quite the staple in the daily lifestyles of many Singaporeans. These convenient 2-in-1 meals allow us late morning sleep-ins, especially on weekends.

We all could definitely do with a great brunch cafe near us when we’re down for a good splurge.

Pancakes, bacon, toast and a plethora of egg dishes… What’s not to love about the hearty breakfast-lunch combo? As a huge fan, I find myself spoilt for choice when faced with so many brunch spots to grab my fix from.

Here at SETHLUI.com, we’ve managed to narrow it down to 23 best brunch cafes in Singapore that are definitely worth the trip any weekend.

1. Cultivate Cafe

best cafes singapore - cultivate

This 1st is a first. In all these years, we have never had a vegan or vegetarian contender beat out all the ‘regular’ competition and garner top spot in a listicle. But then, Cultivate is no ordinary cafe.

There is no better place to shatter the popular myth that vegan and vegetarian food is inherently inferior than the opulence of Cultivate’s colonial setting. Some part of the amazing experience originates in the wonderfully creative presentation of each dish. While the visual artistry draws you in, the exquisite flavours coaxed skilfully out of the organic, vegan, plant-based, gluten-free, GMO-free ingredients orchestrate the real magic.

Brunch without eggs, meat and dairy? You won’t miss them at all. Perhaps sourcing every organic ingredient from small and family-owned farms has something to do with it.

best cafes singapore plate of risotto

Our pick among the mains is the Smoked Onion and Asparagus Risotto with Grated Lemon Rind (S$30). In the absence of dairy, the risotto is so light that it feels like it may float away. Every mouthful rewards you with the richness of roasted Italian asparagus that magnifies the other ingredients.

best cafes singapore tomato salad cultivate

The standout of the salads is Heirloom Tomato and Herb Salad with Roasted Plums & Pomegranate, Nori, Sesame Salt & Light Soy Mirin Dressing (S$26). Just like its name, this is a mouthful large enough for two. It’s very light, with citrus flavours enhanced by the Japanese sauce.

best cafes singapore brownie with fruits cultivate

You would never believe their desserts are gluten- and dairy-free. Our pick is the Prune and Dark Chocolate Brownie with Bitter Chocolate Ganache (S$15). Served with figs, blackberries and blueberries on a splash of yoghurt for balance, this dessert is a star. There is nary a hint of dryness; instead, the rich chocolatey-ness makes it literally one of the best I have ever tasted.

In a rush? Cultivate Patisserie’s grab-and-go selection of handmade delicacies are all the time-saving infusion of healthiness you need.

2. Neptune

best cafes singapore - neptune Shrimp Scampi

Opened by the same folks behind Apollo Coffee Bar, Lunar Coffee Brewers, and the likes of Atlas Coffeehouse, Neptune has its brunch game down to a tee.

It is situated in the very trendy streets of Katong, where açaí, cold brew, and sourdough abound. The little LA of Singapore, if you will. To add to that, the cafe is decked out in a calming sage green that is very in vogue with soft glowing orbs to make your pan for Instagram all the better.

Inspired by Japanese cuisine, you’ll find eclectic brunch offerings here that will awaken your taste buds. Try its Shrimp Scampi (S$21.90), where ribbons of tagliatelle come dressed in garlic butter shrimp sauce with a crispy shallot panko sauce.

3. Common Man Coffee Roasters

Common Man Coffee - Brunch

Common Man Coffee Roasters has been around for quite some time now but it’s definitely one of those cafes that you’ve got to visit if you’re an avid cafe hopper.

With 6 outlets islandwide, this coffee-centric joint serves an all-day brunch menu alongside an extensive selection of fresh in-house brews.

They serve a delightful Ox Cheek Eggs Benedict (S$28) that comes with tender, braised ox cheeks, two poached organic eggs and chive hollandaise. All these condiments are set atop a lightly toasted artisanal sourdough toast and a bed of rocket salad.

As this was something different from the usual, we really did enjoy the refreshing tweak on CMCR’s rendition of the eggs benedict. By making it their own, they have truly redefined one of the most popular breakfast items to date.

4. The Populus Coffee & Food Co.

best cafes singapore - populus cafe

Constantly plagued by snaking queues, Populus is known for being one heck of a brunch place. They are especially famous for Buckwheat Pancake (S$18.50), the Populus Scramble (S$18) and their grain bowls and donburis.

Their Buckwheat Pancakes are soft and fluffy. The tangy combination of berry fruit compote and passionfruit curd also make the pancakes diverse in flavour. Surrounded by cornflake crumbs, the pancakes also go really well with their thyme-infused maple syrup. The edible flowers add that special Instagram-worthy touch to the dish, too!

If you prefer something more savoury, the Populus Scramble will be worth your while. The flaky croissant houses a generous portion of scrambled eggs and cheese, with strips of bacon snaking in and out of the beautiful mess.

Ever since Hello Arigato first opened its doors at Upper Thomson, they’ve had many at hello. To cater to their ever-growing islandwide fanbase, they’ve since opened 3 other outlets at Joo Chiat, Everton Park and Bukit Timah.

These serene cafes are the perfect spots for anyone looking to unwind over a cup of coffee or seeking simple yet refined brunch fare. Pets are welcome, too!

Don’t miss out on their famed range of Sandos, which feature freshly-breaded ingredients sandwiched by Japanese milk bread. Alternatively, splurge on an indulgent Gyu Sando (S$28) complete with a hefty beef tenderloin katsu done to a juicy medium rare.

If you’re a traditionalist, head down to the Bukit Timah or Everton Park outlets for a classic breakfast of Steak & Eggs (S$28) or the highly-recommended Bacon & Eggs on Toast (S$18). Be sure to make your way down early, though, as these are only available until 11am daily.

Touted as ‘your favourite neighbourhood cafe’, Lola’s Cafe should be no stranger to seasoned cafe-hoppers. For the record, they opened the doors of their flagship store along Simon Road in 2013. They’re still going strong more than a decade since, with a second outlet at Holland Village and a recent revamp that has made it feel as good as new.

Lola’s brunch menu is available at both outlets, from 10am to 3pm on Weekdays and 9am to 3.30pm on Weekends and Public Holidays. While the menu from both outlets are mostly similar in their offerings, you best know that several dishes are priced a little higher at the Holland Village outlet.

The Lola’s Breakfast sets you back S$20 at the Simon Road outlet but S$23 at the Holland Village outlet. The latter does include more ingredients, though, with avocado, roasted baby potatoes and fennel pork sausages on top of bacon steak, scrambled eggs and buttered sourdough.

Nonetheless, there are items priced the same at both outlets, such as the Crab Cake Benedict (S$20) and Shakshuka (S$16).

Dewgather is an elegant cafe that’s located in The Star Vista. Roofed by a glass canopy, the space allows you to savour a satisfying brunch whilst basking comfortably in the warm glow of the sun. It fares well on rainy days too, of course

The cafe is rather roomy, with a total of 60 seats that can accommodate large groups and solo diners alike.

For the early risers, Dewgather has an Early Morning menu that’s available from opening to 11am daily. Some items that you’ll find exclusively on this menu include the Waffle with Scrambled Egg & Bacon (S$18) and French Toast with Salted Cream (S$18). Light breakfast bites like their range of Toasties and Pastries are available too.

Still, fret not about missing out on brunch, as the Mains menu that takes centre stage from 11am onwards does include several favourites. For one, get the Dewgather Breakfast (S$23) which includes fixings like scrambled egg, sourdough, bacon and smashed avocado.

Another great option would be the Classic Salmon Avo (S$22) which features smoked salmon, smashed avocado and a 63-degree egg on sourdough.

8. SYIP

SYIP - Farrer Park Cafe

SYIP, pronounced ‘sip’, is a minimalist lifestyle cafe that entered the scene in 2021 with its first outlet in the hip ‘hood of Farrer Park. It specialises in all-day brunch and specialty coffee, and hopes to provide people with a space to sip—or rather, syip—and dine in comfort.

Helmed by a sister duo, the cafe not only has a name that encapsulates its vision but also includes their family surname ‘Yip’.

SYIP - Breakfast Tart, Creamy Chicken Scrambled Egg Croissant, Octopus Mentaiko Rosti

The brunch menu at both of SYIP’s outlets include slightly different offerings, though they’re hearty all the same.

Some popular items at the Owen Road outlet include the Creamy Chicken Scrambled Egg Croissant (S$18) and Burrata Open-Faced Toast (S$22) which features a hunk of fresh burrata with caramelised onion and cherry tomato confit on sourdough.

If you’re dining at the Luzerne outlet, you’ll be equal parts intrigued and tempted by the Octopus Mentaiko Rosti (S$28). Our advice? Follow your heart and stomach. Another delectable option would be the Breakfast Tart (S$22) which stars puff pastry with scrambled eggs, bacon, mushroom and ikura caviar beurre blanc.

Though not a cafe per se, Joji’s Diner is surely worth a mention in this guide for its all-day breakfast menu. Yes, this retro American-style diner in Serangoon serves brunch and breakfast favourites round the clock.

As Taylor Swift sings: It feels like a perfect night to have breakfast at midnight, you’ll be able to do just that right there.

Big eaters seeking a hearty breakfast platter can go for the aptly-named All Star Plate (S$12.90) which stars crowd favourites like scrambled egg, sausage and your choice of Garlic or French Toast. Sweet tooths can swap your toast out for Pancakes for an additional S$2, or dive straight into a stack of 3 Pancakes (S$6.90) to drench in maple syrup.

Craving some good ol’ American grub? You can count on a soulful Chicken & Waffle (S$12.90) or a savoury Smash Burger (S$12.90). Sip on a Strawberry Paddlepop (S$9.90) milkshake, too, while you’re at it.

10. 6 Letter Brunch

Located along Siglap Road (just a few units away from the well-known Dutch Colony) is 6 Letter Brunch, one of the latest Instagrammable cafes to hit the east. It was started by the same team behind 6 Letter Coffee, which is located along Tanjong Katong Road.

This Instagrammable bicycle-themed cafe is decorated with potted plants and bicycle racks, and its menu is astoundingly expansive, with over 100 items to pick from. Our recommendation would be its 6 Letter Brunch Rosti (S$21). It stars housemade rosti, Norwegian smoked salmon, a sunny-side-up, shiitake mushrooms, avocado, fresh fruits, sour cream and a mixed salad.

If you’re in the mood for something fun, get The Three Musketeers (S$29). With 3 types of sourdough toasts, it’s perfect for pairs to share.

11. The Providore Raffles Place

Providore - Brunch Dishes

Using premium artisanal produce straight from their very own humble establishment, ‘The Grocery’, The Providore‘s fresh ingredients almost guarantee a wholly great experience. Top it all off with a classy ambience and even better food at this well-known joint with various outlets in central Singapore.

One would definitely agree that The Providore serves a stellar brunch menu, although it’s only available until 11.30am on weekdays and 3pm on weekends. Their Ricotta Pancakes (S$18.50) is a favourite of ours. Their pancakes were light, fluffy and a perfect complement to the denser, soft ricotta cheese.

Those down to try something new can go for the Spanish Baked Eggs (S$18.50), otherwise known as Huevos Rancheros. The dish features two barn-laid eggs baked on a grilled chorizo sausage in a spicy tomato sauce with cheese and smoked paprika.

Two Bakers is an artisanal cafe and patisserie located along Horne Road, a stone’s throw away from Lavender MRT Station. While its interior may appear pretty standard like most cafes in Singapore, the food they serve is well above average.

Possibilities are endless here at Two Bakers — you can Build Your Own Brunch with fixings like Sourdough (S$1.80), Scrambled Eggs (S$3.60) and Vanilla Pancakes (S$7.20 for 2 pieces) among many ingredient choices.

For the indecisive, there are fixed brunch platters for you to choose from. Those with big appetites can go for the Two Bakers Breakfast (S$24). This full breakfast has everything you could possibly want in one, such as gouda chicken sausage, sautéed mushrooms, tomato salad, streaky bacon, scrambled eggs and sourdough toast.

13. Elixir Coffee & Wine

Elixir Coffee & Wine - Brulee French Toast

Elixir Coffee & Wine is a specialty coffee joint that not only has a deep appreciation for good coffee but also serves up good food.

Formerly known as Melbourne-inspired brunch cafe Elixir Boutique Roasters, you might have visited them in Serene Centre before they shuttered back in 2022. They’ve since found a new home tucked away in residential Holland Village. Oh, they’re a pizza and wine bar by night, too!

For the sweet tooths out there, the Brûlée French Toast (S$26) is something you can’t miss. A thick piece of brioche toast is paired with a luscious dollop of homemade chantilly cream. It is then topped with raspberry, lychee, hazelnut and rose petals. A real sight for sore eyes.

The rich, eggy brioche is dipped in a custard-like mixture and fried on a griddle. At Elixir, they take it a step further and torch the toast thrice to obtain a crisp caramelised edge.

If you’ve got a sweet tooth, be sure to indulge in their Smores (S$17.90) or the Banana Split (S$17.90 for waffle, S$8.90 for glass cup), which is essentially a cereal-infused cream with caramelised banana, cornflakes, and funfetti topped with vanilla and dark chocolate swirl soft serve atop the base of your choice.

You’ll definitely want to pop by on a weekend for the Weekend Brunch menu that’s available from 11am to 2.15pm. Feast on a hearty The Hangover Sandwich (S$29). Sandwiched between an English muffin are a signature Wagyu patty, breakfast rosti, sunny-side-up egg, streaky bacon, heritage ham, caramelised onions and red cheddar — so loaded and so very American.

Don’t forget to wash it all down with a Vanilla Milkshake (S$14) that you can take to the next level with some Espresso (+S$1.50). Now that’s a coffee fix and a half!

16. Cafe Melba

Cafe Melba - Brunch Dishes

Cafe Melba‘s Australian-inspired spacious and relaxed atmosphere (not to mention comfy sofas) exudes a definitive laid-back charm. Coupled with inflatable bouncy castles and huge open spaces for little ones to have a whale of a time, the cafe’s family-friendly environment is perfect for a casual weekend brunch.

Their signature Eggs Benedict (S$19, +S$5 for bacon) is a surefire universal favourite, with perfectly poached eggs laden in hollandaise atop in-house smoked bacon and English muffins. The whole experience at Cafe Melba is one we really liked, and definitely one that you should try out for yourself.

The Hot Smoked Salmon Toast (S$22) is simple yet satisfying — your choice of a bagel, sourdough or rye toast is slathered in wasabi cream cheese then topped with smoked salmon, pickled ginger and sesame seeds.

Fuss-free options like Toast and Spreads (butter and jam) (S$4) and Simple Eggs and Toast (S$14) are available too; perfect for pandering to hangry picky kids.

17. Whisk & Paddle

Whisk & Paddle - Salmon Eggs Benedict

Whisk & Paddle is a popular glasshouse-style cafe with a picturesque riverside outlet at Punggol Waterway and a tranquil botanical-themed one in Bukit Gombak

Whisk & Paddle ingeniously revamps the classic Eggs Benedict (S$15.80) by using halves of crispy, fluffy waffles as a base in place of the usual toast or English muffin. Topped with your choice of smoked salmon, honey baked ham, thick cut bacon or sautéed mushrooms, you might just fall in love with this whole new texture.

You could also order their Bacon French Toast & Eggs (S$17.80) accompanied by butter and maple syrup. Perfected and improved from their previous menu, we left Whisk & Paddle wowed by the soft and silky scrambled eggs and smooth maple syrup that complemented the crispy bacon.

18. Simplicité by Fresh Fruits Lab

Simplicite - Afternoon Tea & Fruity Berries Pancake
Credit – Simplicite by Fresh Fruits Lab

Previously known as Fresh Fruits Lab, Simplicité serves up modern European-style cuisine. While Fresh Fruits Lab used to serve its fare in a laboratory-inspired fashion (drinks in test tubes, beakers and more), Simplicité uses simple ceramic plates and elegant tableware such as golden bird cages and golden trays to present its food.

From Eggs Benedict (S$16) to Smashed Avocado with Poached Egg (S$16) on brioche, the brunch menu is straightforward as can be. Simplicity—or should I say Simplicité—is key here; why would you fix something that isn’t broken, right?

The Fruity Berries Pancake (S$16) is a must-try. While this dish requires a 20-minute preparation time, it’s well worth the wait. Think pancakes infused with seasonal berries, topped with mixed fresh fruits, honey cream then and drizzled with maple syrup.

19. Fuel Plus+

best cafes singapore fuel plus

Fuel Plus+, situated at the foot of Mount Faber in the quiet neighbourhood of Telok Blangah, has long been a favourite establishment in the local cafe scene. With Scandinavian-inspired furnishings, this cosy cafe is the perfect place to spend a lazy afternoon and fuel up on some quality brunch fare.

Unlike several brunch spots with menus that hold limited variety or imagination, Fuel Plus+ has a diverse menu that’ll please even the most cynical of brunch aficionados.

The Fuel it Up (S$22) is a baked egg dish that clearly draws inspiration from the Middle-Eastern shakshuka. With the addition of swiss and feta cheese on top of house-made chorizo style meatballs, it’s a dish that’s big on flavour. Baked up in a warm bed of tomato puree and a medley of vegetables, it makes for a satisfying meal.

Consisting of poached eggs, 8-hour slow-cooked pork shoulder, toast and a homemade citrus hollandaise sauce, it is Habitat’s most famous dish, heralding the feeds of many cafe shots here in Singapore.

Another delightful option is the Stuffed Berries Hotcake (S$22) which sees a fluffy hotcake topped with crunchy walnuts, strawberries, blueberries and a dollop of cream.

23. Starter Lab

Starter Lab - Salmon Smorrebrod

Apart from beaches, Bali abounds with bakeries and health cafés. One of them, Starter Lab, has set roots here in Singapore — its only other outpost apart from its residence in Bali. Joining the bevvy of cafes in Tiong Bahru, it sets itself apart by selling crusty sourdough made with the mother starter that originated in Bali.

Get the Smoked Salmon Smørrebrød (S$16), with silky smoked salmon atop dense slices of nutty Danish rye. The house-made pickle adds a great acidic balance while sprinkles of sumac lend the dish a slightly herbaceous aroma. This is perfect for anyone who enjoys their bread gritty, loaded and slightly rough.

Another trusty option would be The OG Three Cheese (S$21). Albeit a little pricey, any woes will be forgotten the moment you take your first bite. The cheesy combination of Emmental, Red Cheddar and White Cheddar paired with crunchy rosemary sourdough will satisfy you like no other.
