Over the years, I’ve covered multiple pasar malams and let’s be honest, the food selections are more or less predictable. Kebabs, Taiwanese fried chicken, smelly tofu, vadeh, just to name a few, are constantly being sold and that seems to be the default setup every time.
That’s partly the reason why you never see me feature any of them in recent months. All that changed when I chanced upon Waterway Point Food Fair while on my weekend lunch run. A quick loop around the small, food-packed fair had my excitement levels instantly spiking.

Before I share my food experience, here’s what I found out. The fair features 30 stalls selling just food, drinks or desserts, and runs till 20 Sep 2026 from 11am to 9pm daily. To steer you in the right direction, it’s located at Village Square on level 1 of Waterway Point’s west wing.

The first thing that caught my eye were the fat cylindrical golden-brown rolls of lechon (Filipino roast meat) at Bbqchef & More. Some of their offerings include Philippines Lechon With Butter Rice (S$7) and Chicken Roulade (S$15 per piece).

We decided to savour the 200g Lechon Liempo (S$15) which was chopped like sio bak, then crowned with pickled vegetables, shredded seaweed, and a serving of chilli sauce. The meat was decently tender but I preferred the melty fat that disintegrated in my mouth instantaneously. The skin was also crispy and crackly. It wasn’t bad but nothing life changing either.

I had almost mistaken Bao Bao for the same one at Ion basement which sells char siew pau, but upon closer observation, the stall offers kong bak pau-inspired buns with various fillings instead. You have a choice between the Sumo Bao (S$7) with 3 flavours, or Mix & Match any 3 mini buns for S$10. We ordered the latter and tried the Lemon Coconut Fish, Black Garlic Mushroom, and Dynamite Chicken.
All 3 flavours were generously drizzled with sauce but our top-pick was the Black Garlic Mushroom. It had fried battered mushrooms which had a great texture, and were generously coated in an earthy, garlicky sauce.

The Bang Bang Mac & Cheese (S$5.50), however, was served cold like a salad and, sad to say, was probably one of the most underwhelming versions I’d ever eaten.

Vic’s Mini Lava Cheesecake from Hong Lim Food Centre has a booth here. Savour all 4 flavours of their mini oozy cheesecake at 4 for S$13 or 6 for S$18. There’s Original, Chocolate, Taro, and Matcha. If the King of Fruits is your favourite, you can try the Durian Lava Cheesecake (S$4.80 for 1, S$17 for 4), too. Similar to the tasting when we featured their stall, my favourites were still the Original and Taro. Do note that this stall operates until 17 Sep only.

If you’re a fan of the viral Dubai chocolate or cookie, then you have to try these stalls — Moochi and Sibling’s Gelato. At Moochi, we tried the massive Strawberry Dubai Chewy Mochi (S$10) which was filled with Nutella cream cheese, crunchy pistachio kunafa and a whole fresh strawberry. It was coated in a paper-thin layer of stretchy, QQ mochi and dusted with chocolate powder. It’s big enough to be shared amongst 2 people.
Sibling’s Gelato sells various flavours of gelato but I was more intrigued about the Dubai Chewy Cookie as I had heard so much about it. We ordered The OG (S$6) and gasped when we realised it was much smaller than expected. Nonetheless, it was pretty decent. The outer layer was delightfully chewy and dusted with a layer of bitter-sweet dark chocolate, while the filling was packed with crackly pistachio kunafa.

If you haven’t been to Bangkok in some time, you can satisfy your Thai dessert cravings at Candy Kanom Thai with Steamed Tapioca (S$5) or Green Mango with Sweet Fish Sauce (S$6). We bought a box of Mango Sticky Rice (S$7) and the mangoes were excellent — sweet and firm. It came with 3 orbs of sticky rice topped with split mung beans, and a small container of sweet coconut milk for drizzling.

Our last stop was HG Otah (Hougang Otah) selling an assortment of spiced fish cake. Get your hands on 6 varieties including the Sotong Otah (S$3.50 for 3 pieces), Prawn Otah (S$3.50 for 3 pieces), and Non Spicy Coconut Leaf Otah (S$4 for 5 pieces).

We also spotted 8 Wonder Taco with interesting taco fillings like Bri-ish Fish Finger and Shanghai Peking Duck (S$7 for 2 pieces). The famous Auntie Peng Banana Pie from Katong Shopping Centre also has a stall here. Take home the Signature Banana Pie (S$4 per slice) or Dark Chocolate Tart (S$7).
The fair will be running for only a week more, so swing by soon!
